A loan of $550 helped to buy more supplies for preparing her vegetable stew.

Maria Esperanza's story

María is 64 years old, married, and has 1 child still in her care. She lives in her own home with her family and a cousin in La Victoria district, twenty minutes from the city of Chiclayo, the capital of Lambayeque region.

María's community is a small, poor, urban community which has access to drinking water and electricity. María earns a living selling vegetable stew. She prepares her food at home and sells it by the kilo in her local market. María has more than 20 years experience in her business. She would like to increase her business by purchasing more mixed vegetables, corn and beans in large quantities. This will cost her less and will be more profitable for her business. For this reason, she has requested a loan for 1,500 Peruvian soles from Edpyme Alternativa. María uses her income to support her husband, who is a carpenter, with their family expenses. Her greatest wish is to continue getting her family ahead in life.
