Ana's story

Ana, 42, lives unmarried with Carlos; they have two children: Leydi and Yamely, who they care for and raise in their own home located in the city of Santa Ana (Peruvian central jungle). The activity she’s involved with is preparing meals in a space she equipped in her father’s house. She also provides board (sale of breakfast, lunch and dinner to the same person), as well as soft drinks and natural juices. Because she likes to cook she also prepares picarones (typical dish, similar to doughnuts) at the city of Perene’s Sunday market earning a net profit of 100 new soles daily.

What she most enjoys about her work is being able to contribute to household expenses. Because of this she’s planning to improve her restaurant’s infrastructure to earn higher profits and cover her oldest son’s higher education expenses.

She is a member of the “Los Milagros” (The Miracles) communal bank and this is her 8th loan with MFP where she is grateful for all the years of hard work. Ann will use the requested funds to buy ingredients to prepare the meals she sells daily.
