Communal bank "The Loyal and Triumphant Women of Motupe"

This group has been working with Edaprospo-Prosperidad (Kiva Field Partner) since 2010 and it is maD. up of several unified neighbors who are very eager to succeed in their lives. They are very committed to their businesses and to their families. Each one has their own unique style but when it comes to their work they all work with the same level of effort and motivation to grow.

One of the members is Patricia. In the mornings she takes care of the house work and her children but in the afternoons she manages her bicycle rental business. She took advantage of the location of their house, which is located in front of a park. On a daily basis, kids, teenagers, and sometimes even adults rent bicycles by the hour to get some exercise or to simply to enjoy an afternoon. Patricia's husband maintains the bicycles and he also repairs other mechanical or electric items.

Patricia is happy with her business and she even repairs bicycles sometimes, depending on the problem.

She dreams of having her own car to be able to rent it out and to have another source of income for her house.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
