A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase pea seeds and fertilizer.

Elvira's story

Elvira is 34 years old and lives in her own home with her husband Juan, who is 43 years old and a farmer, and their three children who go to school. Under the blue skies of the Peruvian mountains, this hard-working woman wakes up every morning to care for her crops. She and her husband grow potatoes, peas, lettuce, and gladiolus. She knows that farming requires a lot of dedication to achieve a productive harvest. When the crops are ready to be sold, she takes them to the wholesale market in the city where merchants always buy them. She offers good prices which allows her to earn income regularly. For this reason, she likes to work in the fields because all of the sacrifices pay off when she can offer her children a better quality of life and everything they need to become educated. Elvira dreams that her children will learn a profession in the city and she will not rest until they accomplish it. Since she is an enterprising woman, in the future, she plans to plant crops in larger quantities, and she also wants to start a grocery store. This is her third loan with MFP, and she is very thankful to everyone who made the loan possible because it will allow her to continue working to get ahead. She is also very satisfied with the work of her group because it is made up of responsible women who make their payments on time. Elvira plans to invest this loan in the purchase of pea seeds and fertilizers to prepare her fields for the next planting and achieve a productive harvest.
