A loan of $1,075 helped to buy sacks of manure and gladiola seeds.

Albina's story

Albina, 40, lives in her own house with her husband, Rolando, 41, who is a farmer, and their two minor children. They have three children total but the oldest is studying in the city and is independent.

This hard working woman is a farmer. She grows flowers, like gladiolas, and also lettuce and peas with her husband and children. The daily farm chores are very tedious but she says that she likes the work very much because she knows all the planting techniques needed to plant in quantity and in quality. What she doesn’t like very much is that the crops are sometimes lost due to infestations but with practice one learns how to plant better each time. She says that during harvest time she works more to gather the entire crop but, since it’s a job done together with her family members, it’s completed in less time. Because she’s an enterprising woman who has always worked hard to get ahead, she plans to plant larger amounts in the future because she wants to increase profits.

This is her 4th loan with MFP and she is very grateful to the people who made the loan possible that will allow her to continue working. She also says that she’s very satisfied with the work of her group because it’s made up of hard working women like her who seek to get ahead through their own efforts and work. Albina plans to use the requested loan to buy manure and gladiola seeds that she needs for the next planting cycle.
