A loan of $800 helped to buy sewing supplies.

Estefania's story

Estefanía de Jesús lives in Cartagena’s Calamares neighborhood where she manufactures clothes that she sells on credit. A companion encouraged her to get into the dressmaking world teaching her the art so that two years later she was able to make her own designs and attain abundant clientele. She took advantage of the fact that she had a sewing machine that she’d acquired in 1976, which she still uses, because she says that the stitch this old machine makes is still the best. Because Estefanía is very creative, she recently went into making ceramic decorations and she makes money doing this as well.

This is her fifth loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and her second with Kiva. She will use it to buy materials and supplies like, fabric and thread, to sew with taking advantage of the fact that she has many pending orders.

She sends the following message to lenders: “I am grateful for the support provided. I hope you will continue to support micro entrepreneurs that so need help.”
