A loan of $2,125 helped a member to buy nets for artisan fishing.

Anconeras Emprendedoras Group's story

For over 40 years Flor's husband has dedicated his life to artisan fishing. She and her family live in Ancón which is a fishing port north of Lima. She began her business when she realized that some fisherman in the area needed fishing supplies, especially the nets they use. With her first loan through EDAPROSPO she bought several nets to get started.

She began renting the nets in the summer months when demand was the highest. This month business will be a little slow because of the tsunami in Japan which kept many fisherman from going out to sea.

She plans to use the loan to buy more nets and repair the ones she has. She wants to continue with and expand her business. Flor is the secretary of the "ANCONERAS EMPRENDEDORAS" group, which she is happy to be a part of because of the support she receives in her aim to expand.
