A loan of $1,000 helped to buy trees from which she will extract timber.

Diana Moserrate's story

The 'La Sequita' community bank meets in Sequita parish which is located in Montecristi, a prosperous canton in Manabí province. Its people are very hard working, devoted to their families, and very proud of their roots.

Here we meet 20 year-old Diana who is single and lives in her parents' home. She has 10 siblings and she is the youngest. She has been a member of her community bank for four loan cycles and she enjoys being a member because they allow young people to obtain loans.

Diana owns a company that sells timber together with one of her siblings. They buy their products from the owners of farms that have living trees. Her brother is in charge of cutting down the trees and extracting the timber and then she is in charge of selling the product either to people who own cabinet making workshops or to warehouses in the city of Portoviejo. They work from Monday to Saturday, from 7.00am to 4.00pm. Diana tells us that she started out in her business with her first loan from Fundación Espoir.

Diana will use her loan to buy trees from which she will extract timber.

Diana's dreams are to own a large timber warehouse and her own home.
