A loan of $5,450 helped to pay for advertising brochures.

Bobbie's story

Bobbie G. is an independent insurance agent with The Woodlands Financial Group (TWFG) Insurance Services. Bobbie, who has been in the insurance business for nine years, started her business with TWFG Insurance Services in 2007. Her business offers personal and commercial insurance lines to customers, including health and life insurance.

Bobbie has two employees who work with her in Corpus Christi, as well as agents in Laredo, New Braunfels, and Lufkin (all cities in Texas). Until now, Bobbie has relied on referrals and word-of-mouth advertising to bring in business, in addition to networking extensively with local realtors and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. With this loan, she will print and distribute a brochure promoting the services TWFG offers. Having already established a strong clientele in Corpus Christi, this mail-out will focus on reaching potential clients in nearby towns. This marketing effort will hopefully generate new business and provide a better understanding of possible new markets. Bobbie’s long-term goal is to open a second local office, and she will use the response from this mail-out to evaluate potential locations.

For Bobbie, owning her own business means that every day is interesting. With the insurance industry as competitive and time-intensive as it is, she says that “burn-out” is a major problem for insurance agents. She thinks that she stays engaged because she is always doing different things. As a single mother, Bobbie says that owning her own business allows her to set her own schedule. She loves being able to spend time with her son and attend his various activities.

This is Bobbie’s second loan with ACCION Texas-Louisiana. Her first loan provided the capital to start her business. She says that without ACCION Texas-Louisiana’s help, her business never would have survived.
