Sabina, 48, has a spouse and five children. She is a member of the “Ríos de Agua Viva” (Rivers of Living Water) communal bank which has 7 members involved in various commercial activities.

Sabina has been working for the last two years selling salchipapas (fried potatoes with fried sausage) from a cart. She also raises chickens and pigs that she sells. She tells us that nothing has been easy. She had to start from the bottom to attain what she has today. Her motivation was her children because she wanted to provide them with a better quality of life so that they wouldn’t suffer poverty. Thanks to her effort and dedication her older children are professionals and are thinking about setting up a dressmaking shop.

Sabina has requested a new loan to buy merchandise. We know that Sabina will reach her goals with much work and effort and that the loans from Edaprospo will help her.

The small photo depicts Sr. G. H. Nilton Fernando. He was not present when the picture was taken because he arrived late from his job.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
