A loan of $550 helped to buy stock items for his store.

José Glaitón's story

Jose P. M. is a very kind man living with his spouse and two children who are 18 and 22 years of age. He sells groceries at his home located in Villas de San Pablo. He feels happy because his community will grow more each day and this represents more future customers and higher profits.

He started his business two years ago selling a few basic items and gradually has been growing. He now has a second sales stand located in a spot with much foot traffic like downtown Barranquilla.

His goal is to work in wholesale sales and to organize his structure into a warehouse. This growth will lead to increased family income. His greatest challenge is competition but his cordial and timely attention to customers helps him be preferred in the marketplace.

This is how he supports himself. His profit margin is no less than 30% and he hopes the new loan will increase it to over 35% because he’s applying for his Kiva loan at a very low cost. He will use this loan to pay cash for groceries like rice, canned goods, cleaning supplies, oil and assorted items for the home in large quantities.
