Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Modesto's story

Modesto is a 52-year-old married man with 10 children, and he owns a house in Kasese, Uganda.

He has run a retail shop and clothing business for more than a year, having taken money earned from farming to open a shop. His hardship is the seasonal nature pf his business, and his vision is to have a wholesale shop and to educate his children.

Modesto intends to use the credit to buy clothes to sell.
