A loan of $300 helped to purchase tables and chairs.

Maria Magdalena's story

Maria is 34 years old, married, and has a three year old daughter. She lives at home with her family in the District of Pimentel, which is approximately twenty minutes away from the city of Chiclayo. This small urban community has experienced recent growth.

For the past year, Maria has been selling food. Her aunt offered her a small space in front of her house which she turned into a makeshift diner. During the early hours, Maria goes to the wholesale markets in Moshoqueque and Modelo to buy the supplies for preparing ceviches and other Peruvian dishes. Her main customers are doctors and other hospital staff who work nearby. She also serves students who attend the two universities in her community.

At the moment, Maria only has three tables and a few wooden and plastic chairs. She wants to expand her facilities by purchasing more tables and chairs. For this reason, she is requesting a loan from Edpyme Alternativa in the amount of 800 PEN. Her greatest wish is to open a tourist restaurant. She is grateful to Kiva lenders for supporting the growth of her business.
