Huayna Capac (Cuenca) Group's story

The Huayna Capac community bank is made up of 7 women and 3 men who work in different activities, such as farming, raising animals, or commerce. They are fighters and optimists who alwayshave a smile on their lips. They live in Cuenca, which has a cold climate with a beautiful historical downtown and is surrounded by 4 rivers. Its cuisine is varied and its people are cutured and full of tradition.

Ms. María del Carmen P. lives in te Los Trigales neighborhood. She is 45 years old, divorced and has 4 children aged 28, 26, 16 and 12. Her two oldest children are married and on their own and the two youngest go to high school in town. The house where she lives is her own and the fruit of her labors.

Ms. María del Carmen has worked in her store for 19 years. She sells automobile replacement parts and also offers an electrical repair for the same. She works from Monday through Saturday from 8 in the morning until 7 at night and on Sundays she works until noon.

She will invest the money from the loan in buying more replacement parts to grow her store. This is her first loan in the community bank and she was invited by a friend to be part of it.

Her goal is to have a technical center for checking vehicles.
