Bénédiction Plus Group's story

Bénédiction Plus is a group of 18 owners of small businesses chaired by Réné. Its members are jointly liable for loans granted by Kiva to grow their businesses.

Réné M., 52, operates a general store while taking care of one brother-in-law. He is engaged. He is the father of five children who are between 2 and 11 years old. Three of them attend school.

Réné began his business in 1999. Réné has used seventeen Hope loans (a DRCongo Microfinance Program) to finance the expansion of his business. His store brings in a profit of $180 per week.

Due to the high demand in his community, he intends with the next loan to buy more resale goods in order to meet client demand and generate additional profit. Réné’s ambition is to become a provider in his area. This loan will help him achieve his plans to grow the business.
