A loan of $2,900 helped a member to buy ingredients for her business.

Kwembe Group's story

Prisca K., who is in her early 40s, is married with three children. She has a business of selling liquid soap and toilet disinfectant. She has been in this business for two years and works from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (just for six hours). She is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be Prisca's first loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She wants a loan to buy ingredients for her business. She sells her products on order -- her customers ring and make orders and they either collect them or she delivers to them herself. Her dream is to one day have a factory where she can be able to make a big amount of stock and make it easy for customers to come in and out instead of her going door-to-door.

Prisca will share this loan with her loan group, Kwembe, which has a total of 24 new members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
