A loan of $350 helped to purchase vegetables and legumes.

Flor Esperanza's story

Sra. Flor Enríquez is a member of the Communal Bank “Feria Libre” (Open Fair). She lives in the community of Virgen del Cisne in the parish of Cumbe, an area that experiences cold weather. The people are very friendly and cordial and earn their livelihood by working in trade, agriculture, and livestock breeding. Most of them work in the city of Cuenca engaging in different business activities.

Doña Flor is 21 years old and a single mother of a five year old daughter. She lives with her parents who own their house and shares in the household expenses.

Flor sells vegetables and greens. She started this business three years ago and works Sunday through Sunday from 7am to 5pm. This is her first loan with the Communal Bank after being invited to join by her neighbor. The money will be invested in the purchase of more vegetables and legumes so that she can expand her business. Her goal is to own a home.
