A loan of $1,100 helped to purchase sacks of compost and fertilizers.

Marina's story

Marina, age 56, is a hardworking and cheerful woman. She lives in her own home with her husband Gabriel, age 60. What she desires most is to work hard so that she can get ahead in life. Marina has spent most of her life in the small town of Patay. There she learned the family business of farming as a young girl. Now she grows potatoes, ulluco, corn, and peas. Her work has resulted in the necessary income to maintain her family. Everything she harvests is sold at the wholesale market in Tarma where she is able to obtain the best prices for her products. What she enjoys most about her work is sowing her land, which she does with great care. Marina has been farming for 36 years and considers the most difficult part to be getting her products to the wholesale market because transportation is limited in her area. Within time, she hopes to buy additional farmland so that she can increase production.

This is her third loan with MFP. Marina has been prompt with her loan payments and expects to continue in the same manner. In her Communal Bank, she is an active participant and greatly admired by the other members. The loan of 3000 PEN that she requested will be used to buy more compost and fertilizers for her crops.
