A loan helped to purchase additional rope and gasoline to offer for sale in her store.

Juvencia's story

Juvencia B., age 58, owns and operates a general store, where she buys and sells such items as canned goods, snack foods, shampoo, soap, and biscuits to members of the local community. In addition, her store offers plastic basins, rope by the meter, and gasoline by the liter. Juvencia has been engaged in this business for over 10 years and earns approximately 20,000 PHP a month. She is from the village of Pelaez, Claveria, Misamis Oriental. She and her husband have three grown children.

In 2008, Juvencia joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services. She wanted to help improve her living situation and increase her ability to engage in business activities. Juvencia has successfully repaid a previous loan of 18,000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional inventory and was employed as working capital. Juvencia is requesting a new loan of 20,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional rope and gasoline to offer for sale in her store. This loan will be the sixth loan taken out by Juvencia from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
