A loan of $550 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer.

Alina's story

Alina is 32 years old. She lives with her life partner, Diego. They have two minor children, Sarai and Cristofer. They are feeding and raising the children in their own house in the rural community of Miraflores.

For eight years Alina and Diego have been going every morning to the village of Ayapata. That is where their farming land is. Their main crops are potatoes, corn, and other vegetables. She says that at harvest time they hire workers to help them collect the fruit of their land more quickly. “I like this,” she says.

However, there are seasons when their plants are in the grips of the pests, and they lose they money they invested. She says that she plants on extensive fields, but does not have the money needed to invest in the harvest. That is why she is planning to travel to the capital of the country to market the food by the ton. That way she will save money in order to continue planting.

She belongs to the Señor de Muruhuay Communal Bank. This is her second loan with MFP. She is grateful for the support she has received from the association members.

Alina has planted peas on her land. Because of the constant care that she needs to give her crops, she will use the loan to buy various sacks of organic fertilizer. She will also buy natural fertilizers.
