A loan of $500 helped to buy a grill and food products.

Norah's story

Norah lives in the '4th ring' district, in the south of the city of Santa Cruz (note: this city is split into 12 concentric circles - or rings - that radiate out from the city center. Each 'ring' is 1-2km across and they rise in number the further they are from the center).

Norah lives in her parents' home and her business is selling meals in the evening. She is currently separated from her husband and she supports their two children alone. Her children are in elementary school.

Every morning, Norah gets ready early to do her shopping and then prepares her things so that everything is ready at the end of the afternoon when she starts selling her meals. She prepares dishes such as 'locro' (a traditional, thick stew), 'pacumuto D. pollo' (chicken skewers), and 'pacumuto D. carne D. res' (beef skewers). As her business is doing well, she would also like to start selling 'kjaras', a dish that it has become traditional to sell on Fridays. For this, she will need to buy a grill and invest more money in buying pork for this dish. This is what she plans to spend her loan on.

Norah is a very hard-working person. She is requesting this loan to expand her business. She would like to be able to proviD. her family with better opportunities in life, pay for her children's education and cover all her household expenses.
