A loan of $800 helped to purchase supplies, livestock and animal feed.

Maria Mercedes's story

Maria Mercedes M. B. is 27 years old and married with one child. She lives with her husband and son in the canton of Guaranda in the Bolívar province.

The members of the Communal Bank “Mushuc Nan” (“New Road” in Quechua) live in the Guanto Cruz community in the Guanujo parish in the canton of Guaranda. This chapter of 22 members is dedicated to farming: they cultivate mulberries, corn, livestock and poultry, and raise dairy cows to make cheese.

Maria works planting mulberries and corn and raising farm animals. She buys her supplies in Guaranda and then sells her goods at the Guaranda fair.

She is requesting this loan to purchase supplies, livestock and animal feed. A loan would help her to meet her financial needs. She faces challenges such as pests and disease as well as changes in the weather. Her dream is to fix up her home. Maria enjoys taking strolls around the village and celebrating the holidays locally.
