A loan of $575 helped to buy perfumes, lipsticks, deodorants, exercise books, pencils, pencil sharpeners and other products wholesale.

Benilda's story

Benilda Isabel F. has a business selling perfumes, cosmetics, school supplies and clothes. In her business she sells a bit of everything, according to what her customers ask her for. She has 14 years experience and her first steps in this business were selling a few products to her very close friends. In 2009 she started selling formally, taking advantage of the increase in her market, owing to the large number of referrals that now form part of her customer base.

Benilda's success is due to the quality of the products that she sells and the payment terms that she offers her customers. Added to this is the kind service that she provides which enables her to keep her customers and also turns them into keen spokespeople for her business. Another of her strengths is that her business is located on a very busy corner. She also maintains good relations with her 4 suppliers from whom she buys her products through specialized catalogs. However, she also sells merchandise that the catalogs don't have which she knows her customers like to buy.

Benilda's goal for the future is to continue taking advantage of her location in order to start selling 'bolis' (frozen drinks maD. from natural fruits), ice creams and soft drinks. This Kiva loan is her first from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and she will use it to buy perfumes, lipsticks, deodorants, exercise books, pencils, pencil sharpeners and other products wholesale. This investment is very likely to be successful because it is based on orders, with appropriate repayment terms, from her permanent customers.
