Isaias's story

Isaias O. P. is a 62 year-old man who lives in the southern area of the city of Barranquilla. He has a hardware store in his home which is called 'Ferromiscelanea'. Isaias started his business 8 years ago together with one of his daughters. He then bought it from her and it became the main source of income for his family which includes his wife and 4 children who are currently between the ages of 30 and 39.

Isaias' wife and one of his nephews work in 'Ferromiscelanea'. They are a great support and sell construction materials and other hardware items. Isaias has been working with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo for 12 years and has received 9 loans He is currently applying for his first Kiva loan which he will use to buy shelving units. He will also adapt some display cabinets. Through his previous loans and FMSD's business training service, Isaias has managed to better plan his investments and add capital to his business which he works with and from which he makes new profits every time that he invests it. Now his biggest dream, and also his biggest challenge, is to buy a plot of land and set up a storage warehouse so that he can separate it from his home.
