A loan of $2,625 helped a member to buy brand name athletic shoes for retail sale.

Las Cumplidas Group's story

The communal association "LAS CUMPLIDAS" is beginning its first year in the Los Andes activity center. The association is comprised of nine members, with the board of directors being presided over by Mrs. Amalia, president, Mrs. Elsa, treasurer, and Mrs. Gregoria, secretary. The members of the association all have different businesses, among which are sales, production and services: juice sales, clothing sales, athletic shoe sales, macrame craft-making, and brick-laying.

The president, Mrs. Amalia, is 31 years old and the mother of two children. This is her first work experience with the association. For five years she has been selling athletic shoes, which is the trade she learned from her mother. She buys the merchandise in Iquique, Peru and in other cities in Bolivia, such as Cochabamba. Mrs. Amalia works alone. She plans to use the loan to buy brand name athletic shoes so she can increase sales. When we asked her what she liked most about Pro Mujer, she said, "Everything.".
