A loan of $450 helped to purchase potato seedlings and five sacks of seeds for planting peas.

Irene's story

Irene is 20 years old and in a common law relationship with Miguel. She wants to start a family since she does not yet have any children. They live in a house of their own in the village of Bellavista Huaracayo. Irene has been farming for two years. Her main crops consist of peas, potatoes, and beans which she grows on rented farmland in the District of Santa Fe. What she enjoys most about her work is spending a great deal of time with her siblings who help her with taking care of her crops. During the harvest season, Irene and her siblings take turns transporting produce to the wholesale market in the city where she is able to generate good earnings. Irene is aware that there are several expenses that come with having children, so she plans to save money so that she can open either a grocery or clothing store. By earning extra income, she can provide her future child with the comforts she never had.

Irene is a member of the Communal Bank “Señor de Muruhuay”. This is her second loan with MFP. She is grateful for the support she constantly receives. Irene will start planting potatoes and peas. For this reason, she will use this loan to buy potato seedlings that will result in production of 20 sacks. She will also purchase five sacks of seeds for planting peas.
