A loan of $1,650 helped a member to buy fabric.

Brillantes Estrellas Group's story

The “Brillantes Estrellas” (Shining Stars) Communal Bank is starting its first cycle in the Los Andes Community Center. Eight members participate in this communal bank. Luordes is the president of the board of directors.

The women have different businesses. They sell food, braid and weave blankets, have a grocery store, sell vegetables, make sportswear, and sell coca.

Luordes, the president, is in a common-law marriage and has two children. This is her first experience working with communal banks. She will use the loan to buy fabric. She makes sportswear, and she sells it by order daily. She tells us that she buys the raw material from the CEIBO gallery because it is cheaper. She also mentions that her husband helps her manage the business.

When we asked her what she likes the most about Pro Mujer, Luordes said, “The loan”.
