Eliana's story

Eliana belongs to the “Sharing the Effort” cooperative bank, located in the city of La Cisterna. She dedicates herself to selling groceries, beverages, cold cuts, dairy products, ice creams and other items from a kiosk next to her apartment. She has been doing this activity for more than 8 years, from 10:00 am until 11:30 pm. She buys some of her merchandise at the wholesale markets, and orders the rest of what she needs from the providers of those products. She works alone, however her children help her with transporting of goods and making repairs to her kiosk. She will use this loan to buy merchandise to supply her business.

Her main motivation to continue is her desire to obtain better income and, in this manner, manage to have a more comfortable life. Eliana is very thankful and grateful to participate in Fondo Esperanza, since the loan will help her invest in her business. In addition, she participates in the meetings in which she shares from her experiences and learns.

La Cisterna is a community located in the central-south sector of the Metropolitana region. It’s a primarily residential and commercial community. Initially, it was a rural area with large parcels of land. However, because of the population’s growth and the arrival of basic services, it has evolved into a 100% urban area.
