A loan of $375 helped to buy thread and fabric.

Lidia's story

Lidia is 26 years old. She lives with her children and mother in her parents' home. Lidia's business is making skirts and traditional clothing and she has been in this business for 3 years. She learned the trade from her friends and formed a partnership with her sister-in-law in order to buy sewing machines and embroidery machines which help her to optimize her work, producing better-quality garments more quickly. This means that she saves time that she can then spend looking after her young daughter. Lidia's usual work hours are 'nearly all day' but they also depend on the quantity of clothes that she has to make and on orders that her customers make for festive events in their area. When this is the case, she takes her products to people who sell traditional clothing in the markets.

Lidia enjoys her work and would like to carry out plans to grow her business. This is her second loan with MFP. Thanks to the loans requested through her community bank, she has learned the importance of saving since she has witnessed through her own experience how it can help get you out of a tight spot when you are going through a difficult time. She also enjoys working with people who she trusts and feels very grateful for this. Lidia will use the loan she is requesting to invest in buying thread and fabric wholesale.
