Unity Ii Group's story

Meet the members of the “Unity II” group from Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of SLL 500,000 for each member. With the help of this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales and consequently improve on their living conditions. Emmah K. is the leader of this group. The 35-year-old is married to a mechanic and they have four children. Emmah has been a businesswoman for two years now. She sells slippers, rubber bowls, bags, watches, cultural chains, etc. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above mentioned items at wholesale to add to her business.
