A loan of $825 helped to buy pants, shirts, blouses, children's clothing, underwear, etc.

Petita's story

The communal bank "Madre Para Un Futuro Mayor" (Mother for a Better Future) meets every 15 days in the canton 24 de Mayo in the Manabí province. This canton is known for its beautiful landscapes, for its forests, for the variety of its wildlife, and for its kind and hard-working people, of whom the majority work in agriculture and raising livestock.

In this place we met Señora Petita. She is 78 years old. She is married and from this relation has 13 children; four of them are deceased, and the others are adults. Two of them still live with her. Her husband is a businessman.

Señora Petita sells clothes. She has a shop in her house where she works every day from 8 am to 6 pm with the help of one of her daughters. Her merchandise is sent to her from New York or Santo Domingo and she receives it in Portovieho. She tells us that she has had her business for eight years, and thanks to God it has always gone well for her.

This loan is to buy pants, shirts, blouses, children's clothing, and underwear, among other items. She has been in the communal bank for 15 years and she likes it. Her dream is to have a big store.
