A loan of $550 helped to purchase hair dyes, perms, clothing, and beauty products.

Patricia Evangelina's story

The Communal Bank “Madre Para Un Futuro Mejor” (Mother for a Better Future) meets every fifteen days in the May 24th Canton in the Manabí Province. This canton is known for its beautiful landscapes, its forests, and the variety of plant life. The people are friendly and hardworking. Most of them engage in agriculture and livestock breeding.

It is in this place that one can find Sra. Patricia. She is 50 years old, married, and has three children. One child is an adult, another is a high school student, and the youngest is 13 years old and disabled. Her husband works as a chaffeur.

Patricia has a beauty salon where she offers hair coloring, haircuts, manicures, and other services. She works from 8am to 8pm, and sometimes much later if her customers are in need of her services. In her business, she also has two display cabinets where she keeps clothing and products made by Sayson and Lebel (brands of beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women’s accessories). She sells these products in addition to the other services she provides.

This loan will be used to buy dyes, perms, clothing of all types, and products manufactured by Lebel and Sayson. Patricia has been with the Communal Bank for three years and enjoys everything about it. In addition, the meetings provide a distraction. Her dream is to own a car.
