A loan of $1,500 helped a member to buy sugar, coconut, etc.

Dios Con Nosotros 1 & 2 Group's story

Altagracia, the coordinator of her group, Dios con Nosotros 1 & 2 (God with us), lives with her four children in the city of La Romana, where the sugarcane harvest and tourist industry dominate the economy. This area, like nearly all impoverished areas of the Dominican Republic, suffers from unreliable running water (none of which is potable) and electricity.

Altagracia has been selling coconut and milk candies for over three years, having started her business with some savings. She will be receiving her first Esperanza loan with which she will purchase goods to make those candies. Altagracia's principal objective is to become a big businesswoman for the rest of her life and to have a large candy store with an outside area in her community.

In this group: Altagracia, Bienvenida, Jazmin, Dominga, Klara, Dioselina, Samantha, Maria, Valentina, Pilar
