A loan of $3,475 helped a member to buy more food items for her business.

Kitumbo Group's story

Zulfa S., who is in her early 30s, is single with two children. She has been running a small restaurant where she sells pancakes, cookies and chapati (flatbread). She has been in businesses for two years. She works from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be Zulfa's second loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to start the business of selling chapati, cookies and pancakes and has paid back her loan successfully. She hopes for a loan to buy more food items for her business. Her dream is to one day build her own house.

Zulfa will share this loan with her loan group "Kitumbo," which has a total of 15 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
