Quimey Group's story

Jorge is a member of the communal bank “Quimey,” which is made up of 22 entrepreneurs. They work in the areas of handicrafts, confections, making business cards, hair dressing and trade, specifically selling clothing, jewlery and perfumes. They all live in the city of Villarrica.
In the photo, Jorge is on the left side of the second row. He is standing and wearing a white t-shirt. He makes his living selling second-hand men's women's and children's clothing. For the last two years he has worked out of this garage. He sells his merchandise three days a week, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. During the rest of the week, he repairs furniture, sells handbags and is preparing to start a new business chopping firewood. Because Villarica is a tourist area, which is favorable, Jorge rents his house to toursits during the two months of the summer season (January and February). He makes more money from the rental than from his businesses. With this loan, Jorge will purchase second-hand household linens in the city of Santiago, specifically sheets and curtains.
Jorge worked for 20 years in commerce, running a distribution company. Regretably, his business went bankrupt. Nevertheless, in spite of that bad experience, his dream is to once again have a confections distribution company, which would afford him job stability. Consequently, he is motivated to continue with his businesses, since that is the way to obtain the greatest earnings and have a better quality of life.
Jorge lives with his wife and his 22 year-old daughter.
He is very grateful to Fondo Esperanza. He really enjoys participating in the meetings, especially because he is the president of the communal bank and the leader of the entrepreneurs, who he supports and advises.
With regard to the financing he is receiving from Fondo Esperanza, it will be a great support to his business. He will be able to invest more and increase his earnings.
