A loan of $375 helped to buy 10 sacks of bird guano.

Sandro's story

Sandro is 35 years old. He is a single, hard-working man who lives independently from his family, having bought a house next to his parents' home which is located in Unión Palomar (in the central Peruvian jungle). Sandro grows bananas and coffee on his 3 hectares of farmland. This is his main business activity.

What Sandro most enjoys about his work is being able to watch his beans mature as he looks after them very carefully. He has 20 years experience in growing and selling coffee beans. He sells his produce to traders who visit his land annually, every harvest season. He has to invest a large quantity of money in order to obtain good profits. During the other months of the year, when there is no harvest, Sandro works as a laborer on other people's crops, making a monthly income of 500 Peruvian soles that he uses to cover his personal expenses and those of his own crops.

Sandro is a member of the 'Desarrollando para el Progreso de Prisma' community bank and this is his first loan from MFP. He feels very happy to have been offered a chance to make progress. Sandro will buy 10 sacks of guano which he will spread over his coffee plantations because in April he will begin extracting his first mature beans.
