A loan of $2,825 helped a member to buy supplies for preparing meals (baked goods, condiments, cereals, noodles, rice and meat).

La Esperanza Group's story

This superb group of women is called 'La Esperanza' (Hope). The group was formed in the city of Ita by the current Director General, Jacinta González, whose business is selling meals. She contacted the advisor during a weekly meeting that she had in the area to find out how the 'Comité de Mujeres Emprendedoras' (Committee of Enterprising Women) works. The group now has 15 female members who are very happily working on their third loan cycle.

Jacinta is requesting this loan through Kiva to buy the supplies she needs to prepare her meals (baked goods, meat, condiments, cereals, noodles, rice, etc.) as these food products are necessary in order to meet her customers' needs and to help herself and her family climb out of the poverty in which they currently live.

In this group: Jacinta, Arminda, Dorila, Angela, Agustina, Marciana, Demetria, Eva, Regina, Rosana, Severiana, Teresa, Ermelinda, Alicia, Damiana, Germina, Maria, Patricia, Luciana, Zulma
