Sop Serigne Cheikh Group's story

The SOP SERIGNE SHEIKH solidarity group is composed of 15 women who, concerned about development of their land, joined the KEUR MBAR Banc Villageois in order to receive a loan. They are all from the same village and are united by community and kinship ties. In general, they fatten livestock and operate small businesses. Mrs Khota N. (on the far left of the photo with a white scarf) is the leader of the group. She is 59 years old, married and the mother of 3 children. She is also responsible for 4 other children whose parents entrusted them to her care. She fattens sheep. She buys sheep that she fattens for at least four months and then sells them in her town's weekly markets. With her new loan, she will finance her sheep-fattening project and buy five sheep. Her goal is to contribute financially to the support of her family while increasing her level of savings.
