Cristina's story

Cristina is a member of the communal bank “Virgen de Lujan” (The Virgen of Lujan), which is located in the Tinicachi district of Yunguyo Province, Puno Department. She is 51 years old, married and has 4 children, 3 of whom live independently from her. The señora doesn't have an education.
She has been working with Movimiento Manuela Ramos for six years. Her first loan was for 300.00 PEN. She invested it in her business, the purchase and sale of domestic livestock.
With this loan of 1000.00 PEN ($375 USD), she will purchase three pigs and two sheep. She and her husband run her business together.
Cristina tells us that she also makes her living running a small farm. She plants potatoes, beans and barley.
Her dream is to improve her business and especially her earnings.
What she lives about her communal bank are the meetings and the ease of obtaining loans.
