A loan of $550 helped to buy more merchandise such as rice, sugar and oil.

Santos's story

Santos is 51 years old and married. She lives in Olmos, an agricultural area with quite a lot of commercial activity which is located in Lambayeque province, more than one and a half hours from the city of Chiclayo.

For 6 years, Santos has had a small grocery store located in her home where she sells food products and essentials. She is located almost 30 minutes from the village of Olmos. Owing to this distance, Santos' business is one of the few grocery stores in her region. Consequently, she has an established and loyal customer base and manages to make a good profit margin. She would like to expand her business by purchasing more merchandise such as rice, sugar and oil. By investing her loan, she will increase her income and improve her own and her husband's quality of life.

Santos has had previous loans which she has repaid punctually. It is clear that her business has grown because when she started she only sold soda and candies. Now she sells rice, sugar, oil, noodles, milk, etc. Santos feels satisfied with the trust that Kiva lenders and Edpyme Alternativa have placed in her.
