A loan helped a member to buy paint boxes and brushes for painting business.

Noreen's Group's story

Noreen lives in Gujranwala, Punjab, Pakistan known for its agriculture. She resides with her family in a two-room brick house she moved to 13 years ago. She is a seamstress who sews clothes for her neighborhood clients. She has three children. Her eldest son is enrolled in a local school while the others are too young to attend school. Her husband's name is N. M. and he is a painter by profession who paints walls, buildings and houses. He receives orders and fulfills them within the set period of time to earn income for the family.

Noreen’s father-in-law and brother-in-law also live with the family. Both of them contribute to the family financially by doing painting work. She has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her husband. With the loan, he will buy paint boxes and paint brushes to provide better quality service to his clients. He has operated this business for the past 7 years and Noreen is confident that an investment will help him increase his orders and income. She is a new loan applicant of Asasah, applying for the first time. In the photo Noreen, in yellow, holds her Asasah passbook.
