A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase fabric and school and office supplies.

Martha's story

Señora Martha lives in the Alto San Antonio area, which is located 20 min. to the east of downtown La Paz. She has made her living as a dressmaker for more than twenty years. Previously she worked as a seamstress in a factory, but for the last two years she has run an independent sewing bussiness and, out of the same space, a bookstore that sells miscellaneous goods. Sra. Martha is very well-known, since she makes women's suits and mends dresses and women's clothing. Her husband, Jacinto, makes his living as an electrical technician in mobile services. They live in don Jacinto's parent's family home. Doña Martha and don Jacinto's children are grown and live independently from their parents. With the money from the loan, doña Martha will purchase fabric to make some garments as well as school and office supplies for her store. One of their greatest wishes is to save enough from their work to be able to buy a house. Sra. Martha is a very hard working person, and she is grateful to the institution for the help they have given her.
