Luis Humberto's story

Luis Humberto M. M., 58, is a widower living alone in San Miguel Canton, Bolívar Province; he does not have any children. The “CALZADO SOLIDARIO” communal bank is located in Calzado which belongs to San Miguel Canton and is located half an hour from this office. It has 12 members who are short cycle corn, potato and broad bean farmers; they also raise cattle and barnyard animals. Luis is a corn, potato and broad bean farmer and raises cattle. He buys his supplies in the San Miguel market every week and sells them at the Thursday farmers market in San Miguel. He is requesting the loan to buy seed for his crops and to buy feed for the animals. Support from the loan will help him economically to meet his needs. The challenges he faces are infestations, illnesses and weather fluctuations. His dream is to improve his economic situation. He likes that the loans are for larger amounts because supplies prices are more expensive.
