Sabougnouman Group's story

The women of the Sabougnouman group, all married, are 41 years old on average, have 3 children and all live in large traditional families in the Warassala village, in the sub-prefecture of Fana, Koulikoro region (second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They know one another through parental, neighborhood and friendship ties. They sell food, charcoal, and gas. The women of the Sabougnouman group are on their sixth group loan and all their previous loans were paid back in full. Oumou B. expects to buy rice and spices for her food sales, which she does at the Warassala village level, for cash and credit to a customer base made up of men and women. She plans to make an average monthly profit of 35,000 CFA which will be used to make payments on the loan, and the rest will be re-invested in her catering business.
