Juana's story

Sra. Juana is a member of the Communal Bank “Las Orquídeas” (The Orchids) which is in the District of Tarapoto, Department of San Martín. She is 45 years old, married, and has grown children who are independent.

With security and great dedication, she decided to start a business selling snacks and meals at a young age. Juana began selling roasted meats outside of her home. At the moment, she manages a kiosk at a school in her city that is doing very well. Her main customers are students, teachers, administrative staff, and visitors.

With this loan of 3000 PEN, Juana will buy supplies such as sacks of flour and sugar, crates of eggs, butter, milk, bread, chicken, and other ingredients for preparing stuffed potato cakes (a traditional dish), turnovers, and sandwiches. Part of the money will also be invested in barley and regional fruits for preparing juices and refreshments.

Juana is prepared for everything and feels empowered to continue working and moving forward without having to convert her home into a restaurant for selling daily lunches. She is grateful to Manuela Ramos for helping her achieve her dreams and goals.
