Regina N. S. lives in the Kisenyi neighborhood in the city of Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has four children, all of whom are in school. Regina has a retail shop business. She has run this business for ten years, and she works seven days a week. Regina has requested a loan of 1,200,000 UGX from Kiva partner, MCDT SACCO, which she will use to buy more bags of sugar, cartons of salt, boxes of soap and cooking oil.
Regina also earns additional income by selling milk. Her main business challenge is seasonality. Her goals and aspirations for her business are to extend the business and sell her goods wholesale. Regina lives in a home that she owns; she has access to electricity but not to piped water. Her major monthly expenses are school fees and feeding the family.
