A loan of $2,900 helped a member to purchase palm tree nuts for processing.

Missimide 2 Group's story

The Missimide group consists of 10 women who live in the same village outside of Porto-Novo, Benin's administrative capital. They have agreed to support each other in business and loan repayments, and this is their fifth loan from ALIDE.

Clémentine is the leader of the group (with her hand raised in the photo). She is married to Pascal, a harvester. Together they have four children, two of whom are still with their parents. All children are schooled.

For the last ten years Clémentine has worked in processing the nuts from palm trees into pulp to be used for various foods. She also sells crockery from her stall. With this loan she will purchase more raw material for processing, as well as further crockery items for resale. In the long term she hopes to expand her business and be able to purchase a processing machine to increase capacity.

As her strongest attributes in business, Clémentine cites her dynamic and welcoming personality.
