Ireen Joy B. is from the village of Mibando, Quezon, Bukidnon. She is 27 years old and married with two school-aged children. Ireen Joy runs a sari-sari (variety) retail shop. The main source of income for the business comes from buying and selling daily-use products such as shampoo, soap, canned goods, snack foods, biscuits and beverages in the local community. Ireen Joy has been engaged in her business for over three years and earns approximately 6000 PHP a month.
In 2010, Ireen Joy joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services. Ireen Joy has successfully repaid a previous loan of 5000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional inventory and expand working capital. Ireen Joy is requesting a new loan of 8000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional products to sell like canned goods and snack foods. This will be her second loan from HSPFI.
HSPFI is an accredited partner of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and reaches out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
