Edilberta's story

Edilberta is 32 years old and a native of the city of Ayacucho. She is a cheerful and hardworking woman. Edilberta is married to Juan, age 34, and their relationship has resulted in three children. They live in their own home in the sector of Paraíso in the District of San Francisco. Edilberta began her culinary adventure by selling food as a traveling vendor in the streets of the District of San Francisco. Her love of cooking and delicious food comes from her roots in Piura. After Edilberta met her husband, they both decided to open a stand for selling “ceviche” (marinated fish) and shellfish. They have operated their business the past five years from rented locations. She says that on their first day, all of their products were sold in two hours since their stand was small. They continued to grow their business and now have two cooking assistants. Edilberta enjoys her work and has good customers who wait while taking in the wonderful ambiance of the tourist sites. Her problem has been keeping enough non-perishable products, such as fish, on hand since they are fundamental ingredients for preparing her dishes. For this reason, she travels to the cities of Lima and Iquitos where good quality fish is offered. The money she is requesting will be used to buy fish and shellfish, but now her highest priority is to buy a plot of land so that she can avoid rental contracts.

This is her second loan with MFP. Edilberta is willing to complete all of her payments on time because she wants to access another loan very soon. The loan of 3000 PEN that she requested will be used to buy fish and shellfish in the cities of Lima and Iquitos.
