Maria Ursula's story

Maria Ursula is 39 years old and has a young daughter that is in school. She lives in a house she owns in the rural district of Tucume in Lambayeque, Peru. She doesn't have power or water services at her home. Her community is small with approximately 100 families.

She works providing tailoring services as well as raising birds in the pen such as chickens and turkeys. When the birds have reached a good size and weight she sells them in the local market. She has raised birds at home for six years, she learned to do it from her parents and has become an expert. She has a regular customer base in the area.

Maria Ursula wishes to fulfill the constant orders that school season brings. For this, she has requested Edpyme Alternativa a loan of 1,500 new soles ($550) to buy an industrial sewing machine. She will also invest part of her loan in buying feed for the birds. With these activities she hopes to generate higher income.
